Apacer (8271), a leading manufacturer of industrial SSDs and DRAM, announced today that it has created the world's first fully lead-free memory module. It not only exceeds the requirements of the current EU RoHS environmental protection standard, but also avoids relying on the RoHS 7(c)-I's lead exemption clause. This technological breakthrough helps customers to plan and develop corresponding products early, while reducing negative impact on the environment, demonstrating Apacer's practical approach to ESG and sustainable development.

The current memory module products on the market contain lead components in their resistor elements, so they cannot fully meet the requirements of the RoHS environmental protection standard, and need to rely on the lead exemption clause of RoHS 7(c)-I. However, with increasingly stringent environmental regulations appearing around the world, the use of exemption clauses can’t be relied upon as a long-term solution. In order to solve this problem, Apacer has successfully developed the world's first fully lead-free memory module after a long period of research and development. The brand-new fully lead-free resistor elements used in it are in line with RoHS environmental protection standards, and will not reduce the performance of the original memory module. This technological breakthrough will lead the memory industry in a greener and more environmentally friendly direction, and is expected to enhance the road to sustainability.

Apacer’s President, CK Chang, commented in a press conference that “the international trend is becoming more and more stringent on environmental protection, and issues such as metal pollution and poisoning derived from a large amount of electronic waste cannot be underestimated. Apacer has been cultivating ESG issues for a long time, hoping to become a leader in the electronics industry in this area, so it has invested in product research and development in related fields early on. Apacer’s first fully lead-free memory module will be applied first to DDR5 DRAM modules. In addition to helping partners shorten the painful period of responding to regulatory changes, it can also reduce the negative impact lead has on the environment and the human body. For brands that want to enter lead-free product design, it is an ideal choice.”
